The reef at "Uppers", Trestles was perfect! My favourate surf of the trip....

 

The Take-Off at "Uppers" - Trestles.

I paddled out on my own at “Uppers”, not knowing quite what to expect as I negotiated the shallow cobblestone reef on the way out to the line-up. The take-off was actually a little easier than I expected but you sure as hell better get to your feet quick and go left or it’s over the falls you go !! :-) I caught some really memorable waves here during the session (especially as I’m not that used to surfing reefbreaks). Picked up a little “trophy ding” to the board but it was more than worth it to surf the legendary “Trestles”. Stoked !! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeha. :-)

The wave here was just so damn perfect I thought i'd died and gone to heaven. Once you were on it it walled up and just reeled down the line accross the shallow cobblestone reef. Peeeeeeerfect.

This is "Lowers" - one of two main reefs at Trestles (60miles North of San Diego, accross the military base, walk down the trail, over the railway track and your there-easy!! There are two Nuclear Reactors just to the left of this photo. Yikes !

Windansea is pretty much where it all started in California. It's a tasty looking reefbreak and is apparently heavily guarded by the tattooed locals. It all seemed fairly easy going while we were there but you definately get the impression that when it gets good the local crew wouldn't take kindly to us paddling out to join them in "the pack". This guy was chucking spray all over the place like some kind of "territorial pissing" :-)

This was our "local break" during the trip. We scored some nice clean waves here amongst the dolphins and sealions. :-)
