Independence Day - Newquay: Fistral 4 July 2009
With the missus away for the weekend (Oxford) 4th July 2009 was Indpendence Day and I made the 100 mile pilgrimage to the UK's Surf City of Newquay. With a QS Contest on at Fistral, a surf at North Fistral, and the chance to spend some hard earned cash in the surf shops it was worth a drive. The surf wasn't epic but was fun and I managed to blow another £100 on surf T's and Reefs :-)
I surfed at North Fistral in the morning for a couple of hours - the Lifeguards were driving everyone pretty nuts with all the "paddle to the left of the black and white flag" over and over again on the tannoy but is was a-ok. Spencer Hargreaves was out surfing next to me for a bit - he's the QS Grom coach so was out with all the kids.
