Widemouth, Bude - Monday 4 July 2011

Taken on mobile - so "click to enlarge":

This was by far the best "Monday" I have had in a long time :0)

These photos aren't the best as leaving the house at 6.20 am I managed to forget my SLR - these are care of my mobile. The surf was really excellent - not huge but perfectly clean and super long lines and rides. I felt GREAT out there today and scored some really good rides. The take-offs were easy but the waves tended to hollow out on the banks and just run clean through to the shore at between 2-3ft. Josh Ash ("The Face of Braun" blah dee blah dee blah) was out throwing some huge 360 airs.... They all look a bit easy if you ask me and he's just so ugly !!! ha ha . He actually rips and looks like some kind of surf god. - Hate him, Hate him, ha ha.

With it being a Monday the line-up wasn't too busy - overall a great day.

Watergate Bay ....... Cobalt Blue surf with the SCR and 'Songbird Murderer'

Getting a good run of surfing in quality conditions....... no filters or camera trickery required here - just perfect Cobalt Blue surf, hot sun, and great 3ft plus surf at Watergate Bay.

Met up with 'South Coast Rob' and 'the Songbird Murderer'* for a great surf.

The sets were pretty relentless with one particular paddle-out requiring at least 15 - 20 duck dives through headhigh surf.......a great workout and rewarded with some great rides.

* Britain's songbird population is in drastic decline due to loss of habitat, climate change, predation, and significantly - the deadly VW Golf front grill..! Turning up to meet us in the car park at Watergate with his front grill stuffed full of rare, and now very dead, Green Finches was a truely horrific scene. :0)
